Our History

Scott William Burger, whose background in general management in the international machinery business and Colin MacRae Thomson with a broad knowledge base of the forest product industry combined their strengths to form William-MacRae and Company in 1990. In its early stages, the company imported milled and machined Meranti, Kapur, Keruing, Agathis, Ramin, and other wood species from Malaysia, Indonesia, and Taiwan as well as large quantities of machined metal components from Mainland China. Business expanded steadily throughout the late 1990’s and 2000’s.

The Midwest International Trade Association awarded William-MacRae and Company “Importer of the Year” for 2016. Nebraska Governor Pete Ricketts presented the award to our company at the annual conference on international trade held in Omaha.

William-MacRae’s presence in China supported the evolution of the forest product industry from its early stages. Our knowledge and guidance facilitated the growth of the wood processing industry to the billion dollar industry it is today.

Headquartered in Omaha, Nebraska, with a branch office in Bellevue, Washington and offices and personnel located throughout Asia, William-MacRae and Co. is a global manufacturing company which has built a reputation as a dependable and trusted business partner.

The company’s manufacturing base now includes over fifty domestic and international suppliers. William-MacRae’s supply network includes ten domestic warehouse distribution centers strategically located to serve customers from every major port in the U.S.
